What is psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is a form of therapy that helps individuals understand their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, in order to improve their mental well-being and overall quality of life.
How can psychotherapy help me?
Psychotherapy can help you identify and overcome psychological issues, cope with stress, manage emotions, improve relationships, enhance self-esteem, and develop healthier coping mechanisms.
What can I expect during a psychotherapy session?
During a psychotherapy session, you can expect to have open discussions with a trained therapist who will listen to your concerns, provide guidance, offer tools and strategies, and create a safe space for personal growth and exploration. Seas to Summits is telehealth based and therefore not appropriate for someone experiencing a life-threatening crisis. If you need a higher level of care, you may be referred to an in-person provider for your safety and best practices.
How long does psychotherapy usually last?
The duration of psychotherapy varies depending on the individual's needs and goals. It can last anywhere from a few weeks to several months or even years, with sessions typically scheduled on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.
Is psychotherapy confidential?
Yes, psychotherapy is typically confidential. Therapists are bound by ethical guidelines and legal requirements that ensure your privacy and confidentiality. However, there are certain exceptions to confidentiality, such as if the therapist believes there is a risk of harm to you or others.
